Far be it for me to waste one of the remaining days of school then. I have been happily busy today. All the stars in the wonky star quilt are perle cotton stitched. Now I am throwing a question out to everyone, and Tinca - the future owner of this quilt - in particular. I plan on stippling the rest of the quilt to finish the quilting process. Should I do it in plain white thread that blends into the background or should I get a bright variegated thread that will liven up the white spaces? I am tending towards the variegated thread but don't know if it will be too much. Opinions please.
I got my signature block made for my July Bee blocks. So now that can be packaged up and posted off to Judith. I also did another P51 block as we needed several more to get P51 up to size. I made the signature block and that too can be packaged and posted. P51 cannot be discussed, sorry folks. Other than showing you the blocks that I made you will have to wait for more information in the not too distant future.
In an effort to clear the decks of all unfinished projects I have been working on making the backing for my second HST cushion for the ugly sofa. I am also cutting the binding for the Pips Pinwheels because I have not been able to make up my mind whether or not to add more quilting so have decided to just get on with it and bind the quilt. The way it is quilted means that if I want to do more hand stitching I will be able to do so even after it is bound.
I will see if Emily wants to cut the pattern pieces and fabric for her summer top when she gets home after school, though time will be limited as it will be Helen's last tap dance class of the summer tonight. Before the week is done I
I am highly satisfied with my progress today. It is a nice feeling to sit peacefully and sew, no interruptions, no noise, nothing niggling at me to be given priority to be done instead. (Because I have become a master at ignoring the housework.) Just me and the gentle sound of the sewing machine. Oh, and me muttering when I finished one signature block only to realise that I misspelled the last word on it!!
